Time Series (01)
Time to choose and time to accept
School shuttle system is probably one of the best innovations a school can have. Apart from the subsidized prices, the convenience is applaudable too.
Scenarios from the bus park in my school are always different every single time and this time I noticed a particular pattern.
In the bus park, we have some very clean and spacious buses while we also have the very tight ones. For the spacious ones, people don’t really care where they seat since they are sure it is going to be convenient. While for the tight buses, people begin to choose which of the seats they want to sit in. This is however on a normal day. No rain, there are other buses available and there are other choices people have so even if the driver gets angry that people are choosing where to sit in the bus and others are being hesitant about getting on the bus, there’s still the reluctance from passengers to sit just anywhere.
But there’s a flip side where things become different - rain time.
When it begins to rain, people no longer care where they sit in the bus. They no longer care if the seats are convenient or not. They no longer care if the seats are tight or not. All that matters at that moment is getting home and not getting drenched in the rain. On those days, people literally fight for those spaces and struggle to get where to sit so they just accept whatever is available.
I think the unpredictability of life teaches us that there will be times when we can choose and there will be times when we must accept. It also teaches us to be prepared for those times because whether we like it or not, those times will come.
It teaches us to be grateful for the times when we can choose. The times when we have varieties and can decide to choose what we really want.
So as you go about the new month, be grateful for the ability to choose.
This week, I leave you with a quote from J. K. Rowling
"It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."
Cheers to a lovely month ahead.
Till next time,
Keep getting better at your craft.
